B.E.A.R. Closet II
FIRST WEDNESDAY OF MONTH 12PM-6PM
THIRD WEDNESDAY OF MONTH 9AM-12PM
What is a B.E.A.R Closet?
It stands for Baby Equipment and Resource Center. What it means to people in need is a huge help with taking care of the little ones in their family. It involves collecting used and new baby clothing and equipment to be loaned out to people who are struggling and in need (somewhat like a library loans books). If any items are still useable when through using, we ask they be returned so we can recycle them to keep the program going for the next person in need. This will be a Christ-centered volunteer effort that takes place within our church.
People, often referred by members of the church or other churches in our area, come in during operating hours and can sign out anything they need. Later, they can return any items for others to use. It’s a great way to save money and provide for the family, then give back so others can benefit also.
Please spread the word if you know of anyone who is expecting a new baby, or has a family with young children an could use our help. The location will be to come in the south lower entry (near the playground) by the Sunday School classrooms and we will have a sign outside. The room will be on your right as you enter.
Volunteers and donations are needed.
Ways you can be of help are by giving item donations (newborn to 1year old sizes), giving time when the B.E.A.R. II Closet is open, helping financially toward the purchase of new items such as car seats, crib mattresses, newborn kits, etc. We would also like to connect families with resources for food, medical care, housing, etc. We will be asking volunteers to clean baby equipment, man the infant loan closet for a few hours, and spread the word to the community.
If interested in volunteering or donating items, please call Abernethy UMC at 828-254-2612.

Promote a church event.
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
